Search Engines Important to Business

11.10.2006. 21:57

Search engines are the single important source of new web site visitors. Almost 50 percent of site visits begin at the search engine. It is a lot of traffic. The rest of the people know exactly where they want to go to. They just revisit the site. They probably have found the site from search engine before. They are not your new customers. It is a repeat customers. Because most new visits come from the search engine, getting high ranking on major search engines like google, yahoo, msn will tremendously help your business. A research shows that over 80 percent of people who go online planning to shop for something start with a search engine.

Compared to traditional advertising and marketing, search engines are the cheapest way to reach people. You may easily have to spend a couple of hundred thousand dollars to appear a few seconds on prime time television. It is much cheaper to promote your business by going after free search engine traffic. Yes, that’s right. You can get high rankings on top search engines for almost practically free. Of course, you must have some knowledge on search engine optimization, and it would require some work such as link building and including your site into the directory.

If you don’t know how to do that, you probably have to hire some search engine optimization firm, and it will cost you some money. But it is a lot cheaper than any other methods of advertising. Each month people spend million of hours on Google alone.

If the hours are not impressive, think about this way: By the end of the year, more hours are logged than any one person could accomplish in multiple lifetimes. This is the eternal nature of information (collecting and distributing). We live in strange days indeed. What has not changed and should is the ability to integrate to multiple platforms. Many attempts exists to incorporate this methodology, few have succeeded.

All business by the very nature require a user base. A business cannot exist without people... sort of how a business could not exist without you. Considering that within the very reaches of our imagination, there exists a possiblity now to perhaps store much of our lifetimes on the internet (articles, blogs, web sites, etc. ). Build clients and they will rebuild your business when it needs to upgrade. This is my existential thought on this subject.

Users are the proverbial "king" of internt computing. Without so many users, our knowledge would not span our planet, or our country, or perhaps even our city. This being true, there is a need to increase your users experience on your sites. It is not ("Good") to try one pagers and hope to "succeed". Content, at the end of the day "your existance in binary".

Search engines are always trying to figure out how to attract more users. This is perhaps one of the strongest items you, as a website owner, shoud focus on. Having a great site and no users to use it, is like having a house without a key to get in. Both are useless without this symbiotic relationship. Today you surfed, a year ago you surfed, and perhaps ... if you are as old as I am, you have been surfing for a couple of decades. How about logging it ... a yah blog it... right!

SEO is a day to day process. Changing almost daily with concepts of wording, meta tags, search engine friendly, ppc networks, and others. Try to think of something new each day... record it, and wreap the benefits of genious in the past.
